The road has real scenic-overlook pull-outs with panoramic views down Malibu Canyon toward the coast, which makes it easy to carry too much speed past them rather than into the next corner — a hairpin sits right above the Malibu Creek Gorge picnic area, one of the tighter points on the climb.
