The Dragon packs 115 counted bends and 24 switchbacks into 11.0 miles — 10.5 bends per mile, in the same range as this catalog's tightest California roads, sustained over a much longer stretch than most of them manage. What makes it unusual isn't just the count: there are no intersections, driveways or side roads anywhere on it, so every vehicle on the road is there to drive it, not to get somewhere. Go on a weekday if you want the road to yourself; April through October is the season, and weekends bring heavy motorcycle and sports-car traffic in both directions on a road with no passing lanes.
